Apple Reports Record $114.5 Billion Quarterly Revenue as iPhone Sales Surge and AI Costs Loom

      • Apple reported record fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $114.5 billion, up 12%, exceeding Wall Street expectations as earnings reached $2.10 per share.

      • iPhone sales climbed 17% to $57.6 billion, while Mac revenue increased 24% and services revenue reached an all-time high of $31.6 billion.

      • Despite strong results, rising memory costs, artificial intelligence investments and supply constraints threaten profit margins as Apple enters the holiday shopping season.

Apple reported $114.5 billion in revenue for its fiscal fourth quarter, a 12% increase from a year earlier, as strong iPhone sales helped the company outperform Wall Street expectations. Earnings reached $2.10 per share, compared with analysts’ estimates of $1.99. Net income rose to $30.7 billion. The results marked the first earnings report under CEO John Ternus, who succeeded Tim Cook in September. Apple also recorded its strongest fiscal year, with approximately $479 billion in revenue for investors worldwide.

iPhone revenue climbed 17% to $57.6 billion, while Mac sales increased 24% and services generated a record $31.6 billion. However, investors remained cautious about rising memory prices, supply constraints and spending associated with the new Siri artificial intelligence system. Apple forecast December-quarter revenue growth of 7% to 10%, but projected a narrower gross margin of 45% to 46%. The contrasting outlook highlighted both resilient consumer demand and mounting pressure on profitability.

      Why It Matters

Apple’s results demonstrate that established products, disciplined operations and customer loyalty can still produce substantial growth without the enormous infrastructure spending pursued by some artificial intelligence competitors. Strong demand for iPhones and Macs also underscores the value of innovation that consumers willingly purchase rather than technology investments justified chiefly by speculative promises. For shareholders, record revenue and $28 billion returned through dividends and buybacks offer tangible evidence of financial strength.

Nevertheless, Apple faces meaningful tests. Higher component costs and the expense of introducing new AI features threaten margins, even as supply shortages complicate sales. Its exposure to international manufacturing, trade policy and tariff changes adds uncertainty. Tariff refunds contributed to reported earnings, making underlying performance worth examining separately. The broader lesson is straightforward: Corporate success should be measured by sustained profitability, useful products and returns on invested capital, not merely the size of an AI budget or market enthusiasm today.
