Apple TV emerged as the dominant network across the first two nights of the 78th Emmy Awards, collecting a company-record 20 Creative Arts victories and strengthening its position as one of television’s most formidable premium-content competitors. The biggest contributor was Widow’s Bay, which captured eight awards—more than any other program—including Outstanding Guest Actress for Betty Gilpin and honors for casting, cinematography, production design, music, and sound. Pluribus added four awards, while Margo’s Got Money Troubles and Palm Royale each collected three. Two additional victories came from Mr. Scorsese and the commercial I’m Not Remarkable. The showing follows Apple’s record 89 Emmy nominations across 15 programs and gives the company considerable momentum heading into the September 14 Primetime Emmy ceremony, where several of its programs remain contenders in major comedy, drama, acting, writing, and directing categories.

      Key Takeaways

      • Apple TV collected 20 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, a company record, after entering the 2026 competition with a record 89 nominations across 15 programs.
      • Widow’s Bay was the weekend’s biggest individual winner with eight Emmys, including Betty Gilpin’s guest-actress victory and awards spanning cinematography, casting, production design, music, sound editing, and sound mixing.
      • Apple’s success was unusually broad rather than dependent on a single hit: Pluribus won four awards, Margo’s Got Money Troubles and Palm Royale won three apiece, while Mr. Scorsese and I’m Not Remarkable supplied two additional victories.

      In-Depth

Apple TV has turned what began as an expensive experiment in original programming into a serious challenge to Hollywood’s established television hierarchy, and its record performance at the 78th Creative Arts Emmy Awards offers another measure of that transformation. Apple collected 20 awards across the first two nights, the strongest Creative Arts Emmy showing in the company’s history.

Leading the charge was Widow’s Bay, which won eight awards, more than any other program. Betty Gilpin captured Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, while the production also prevailed in casting, cinematography, production design, original dramatic score, music supervision, sound editing, and sound mixing. The breadth of those victories is important because they recognize the technical and creative infrastructure behind a television production rather than merely its marquee performers.

Apple also demonstrated depth across its programming slate. Pluribus earned four awards, including recognition for production design, picture editing, main-title music, and sound mixing. Margo’s Got Money Troubles collected three for costumes, hairstyling, and makeup, while Palm Royale added three more covering choreography, costumes, and makeup. Mr. Scorsese and I’m Not Remarkable accounted for the remaining two victories.

The results reinforce a larger shift in the streaming business. Apple has generally pursued a smaller, premium-oriented programming catalog rather than trying to match competitors title for title. That strategy carries considerable financial risk, but awards recognition gives the company something raw volume cannot guarantee: prestige and cultural credibility.

The larger test comes September 14. Widow’s Bay, Shrinking, and Margo’s Got Money Troubles remain contenders for Outstanding Comedy Series, while Pluribus, Slow Horses, and Your Friends & Neighbors are competing for Outstanding Drama Series. After entering the Emmys with 89 nominations, Apple has already converted a substantial portion of that recognition into hardware. The remaining question is whether its Creative Arts dominance will carry into television’s highest-profile categories.
