    Trend Micro recently revealed that cybercriminals are harnessing AI—particularly large language models—to dissect publicly released technical threat intelligence reports, reconstruct fragments of malicious code, and effectively “vibe-code” new malware. This technique accelerates development for both novice and advanced hackers, reduces attribution clarity by blending tactics, techniques and procedures, and raises concerns over the level of detail shared in open threat reports

Malware born of AI-assisted code generation often blends techniques from multiple groups, muddying the waters for investigators. Static signatures no longer suffice. Behavioral indicators and pattern analysis must be front and center.

    In short, we must adapt. Transparency must evolve to preserve its defensive value while minimizing its exploitation. AI won’t go away—it’s here to stay on both sides of the cyber trenches. By responding thoughtfully, not reactively, industry participants can ensure that transparency remains our strength—not a vulnerability.
